Sleepy deer planter in progress 🦌 I haven't had any interest in my studio for a long time, and I don't know how much more I'll do with ceramics. It's hard to do the whole craft biz thing, particularly with ceramics and other 3d media where every piece is made by hand. It's hard to spend time and money on making stuff, get excited about it, and have it never sell. It's hard to depend on other people enjoying my creativity as a source of income, because I don't always know what people will like, and I don't like to make the same "popular" stuff on repeat, because I'm no longer being creative, I'm manufacturing. It's hard to worry about making sure I have stock for my retail spaces, but then having a month where most of my hard work has gathered dust. But today I made myself come down here, so I can try to finish some things I started. I like her, and she's the only one like her ❤️

A worthiness test, in case you're not sure.

Sometimes I need to remember that I am worthy of having a creative career. I am worthy of being successful and having a dream home. I am worthy of feeling like I matter and I have a story to tell. I am worthy of taking good care of myself. I am worthy of being confident and happy. I am worthy of whatever it is in life that I want. And you're worthy too, and your enemies are worthy too, and homeless folks, and people in jail, and people with different political views, and people who's value you can't see are worthy too. We're all born with human DNA, and we're all born equally worthy of loving ourselves and chasing our purpose. Worthiness isn't earned or purchased or gained or handed out to people who we deem deserving. It's inherent.

Testing out a new mug design! This is a ceramic decal process. Essentially, a special printer prints your design in special overglaze inks onto a flux paper that also includes some glue and backing paper. You cut out your design, soak it in warm water, and then the glue loosens and the decal slides off of the backing paper and onto the cup! The hard part comes next, which is making sure you squeegee all the moisture out from underneath the decal; otherwise you get defects and bubbles in your final product. The final step is to pop it into the kiln on a special firing schedule. I'm thinking I need to darken up the text a bit, but otherwise I like this little cutie! Happy Saturday! I hope you've got fun plans for this beautiful day. Here in Saint Louis there are about 739 different craft shows and festivals going on, AND the amazing open house event today at @rfhomeco 😍 the whole store is bursting with stuffed pumpkins and the most wonderful fall decor! I'm personally in love with all the floral stems. They're fabulous. In my little space, you'll find a whole wall of new 5x8 prints, just like this very fall-appropriate pear. I've also got mini clipboards to go with them! I really like these because they can hang or just lean against something else if you're like me and have plaster walls and can't handle the thought of actually hanging artwork 🙈 I'm calling this little collection Clippies and they're so fun! 👩‍🎨
