I’m chelsea. It’s so nice to meet you!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’m the maker behind Scavenge + Bloom.

I’ve been working at this little operation since the Fall of 2016. It hasn’t been the smoothest road, but I’m here and I’m happy! I have a background in graphic design and art education. I love cooking, binge listening to podcasts, and trying new things. I have a hunky, brilliant husband and a magnificent little boy named Felix. I think I might be the luckiest girl in the world.

What’s the best part about my job?
When customers tell me that their treasures make them smile every day.

What makes me proud?
I believe that makers, creatives, and small business owners are the people that breathe life into communities. The chefs that take the risk and build their dream restaurants so we can try food we’d never be able to make on our own. The treasure hunters that create the most charming vintage boutiques for us to enjoy. The artists that give us the murals and the music and the magic, to remind us that the city we’re in is really something special. I get to be a part of this group, and I feel a little awesome about it!

What is my hidden talent?
If I’ve had a long (and social) night out, I can hit the low notes in any Barry White song the next morning. I also make a killer Rice Crispie treat.

a little about the process

I try to do a little bit of everything! I’m one of those people that loves to work in all sorts of media, so I try new things all the time. I love illustration, drawing, painting, photography, printing, graphic design, fibers, and pretty much everything else!

I find inspiration all over. Fashion magazines, home decor blogs, other makers, Beyonce, nature, old objects, new places.

What I love about ceramics and home decor is that I can combine beauty with function. To me, it’s the best of both worlds.

I make my animal pots using a combination of slip casting and hand-building. I use a slab roller for most of my dishes and tableware. I glaze all of my ceramic work by hand, and finish it all off with a touch of 22K gold! My studio and kiln are in my home, so I get to work in my sweatpants, which can only be described as a dream come true.
